MIAMI GARDENS

Launched in the fall of 2011, in collaboration with the City of Miami Gardens Parks & Recreation Department, our Miami Gardens satellite program is located at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, 3000 NW 199th Street. Open to children ages 5 and above this program also offers ballet and tap classes to students who have an interest. Classes are offered twice a week, for 1 hour each class, during the regular school year. Betty T. Ferguson offers the classes to the community at a low cost.

Information regarding the classes goes home with the children in Creole, Spanish, and English the second week of the new school year. Ballet shoes, leotards and tights are fitted, purchased, and delivered to the children thanks to a national dance supply business that has joined the collaboration. Through this organization, the Thomas Armour Youth Ballet is able to purchase and fit the clothes and shoes at a minimal cost.

Classes are held in one of the Complex’s two dance studios. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors have been installed and barres have been purchased for the students. At the end of the school year an in-studio showing, highlighting the year’s work, is given free of charge to the friends and families of the participating students.

The 2012 Summer Program will run for 8 weeks, beginning on Monday, June 11th and ending on Friday, August 3rd. Registration will begin on Monday, March 27th, 2012. Please contact the Betty T. Ferguson front desk directly for information, registration and program fees at (786) 279-1222.
